Close Protection of Artworks (P.R.O.)

CODINE does not only provide a product or system. To guarantee its effectiveness, it offers efficient product support, adapted to each specific need of the solution that has been adopted.

In its activities CODINE is supported by a network of professional partners, proactive in the fields complementary to intrusion, extending throughout many different areas of activity.

To be at best efficient, it is advisable that each installation be preceded by a detailed site survey on available human and material surveillance resources. To warrant the result, CODINE develops continuously his own network of registered installers.

Customer oriented, CODINE’s range of product is continually evolving and adapted to specific needs.
Each year, in order to fulfill any customer’s request, substantial human or material means are dedicated to Research and Development.

As manufacturer, CODINE organizes several one day (or more) training sessions with commercial, technico-commercial or technical orientation depending on the trainees profiles.
The final goal of such sessions is to make new partners able to promote or install CODINE’S close-up solutions correctly.

CODINE uses different ways to help its partners. To guarantee the effectiveness of a solution, it offers efficient product support adapted to each situation or specific need and proposes : hot line, emailing or on site assistance case by case.

CODINE uses electromagnetic technology to produce a discreet, invisible field around valuable to be protected. Immediate warning of contact is given and early warning should someone or something merely get close to the object. Such a technique also encourages the public to assist in preventing further contact by the offender.

Interactive detection by a non-physical cocoon is a concept that has been created, developed and marketed by CODINE. Its origins lie in chaos theory and the behaviour of electromagnetic waves. The objects to be protected, with or without artificial extensions (antennae), contain conducting molecules and are themselves used as a guide to create an invisible, non-physical protective cocoon.
This cocoon, which detects intrusions, establishes a protected space to a pre-determined depth, which envelops the valuable object, hugging its contours exactly and uniformly, whatever its position.

Any attempt to penetrate within the protective cocoon by a body of sufficient mass will be automatically analysed and detected.

The principal concept consists of creating a network of detection and control sensors, whose operation is based on the behaviour of sensors used by living cells subject to minuscule changes in their immediate environment, which were developed so they could adapt and protect themselves.

Research confirms the role of infinitely small exchanges of electromagnetic energy as communication between cells, with no material connection.

As any attack on the physical integrity of an individual or an object requires a minimum variation in the relative behaviour of one compared with another, access to the use of a network similar to the structures of living cells would represent the ideal solution.

This research has led the company to exploit conducting cells that make up the majority of physical objects and living bodies as the vehicle by which an electromagnetic field is altered, with a very low amplitude.

Then it has defined the characteristics of that electromagnetic field, enabling it to easily analyse its behaviour within a pre-determined environment

- BESIDE THE ELECTROMAGNETIC PRESENCE SENSING SYSTEMS :

by proximity alarm described above, Our high performance and cutting-edge know-how are founded on several technologies :
- Optical Laser detection systems : have been designed specifically for use in object or person detection applications. With a detection ranges up to 15 meters (depending on the model) and a 190° scan area the Codine’s Lasers are capable of performing tasks including the determination of surface areas and volumes, position and contour detection. Due to their outstanding resolution objects of only 20mm can be detected with the utmost reliability and accuracy at a distance of 4 meters.

The Codine’s radars can be dedicated to protection of temporary or permanent exhibitions and are particularly efficient to supervize a flat wall with hanging Tapestries or paintings. Used vertically it generates a light curtain and activates an alarm when an object or somebody pass through. Used horizontally it generates two alarm thresholds (prealarm and alarm).

- Gravimetric detection systems :

Horizontal surfaces
Detectors designed to protect against the removal of valuable objects on display (statuettes, vases, silverware, jewels, etc...). Reacts to the slightest variation in weight variation on the sensors.
Comes in standard dimensions or made to measure in the form of a surface or on a plinth, so simply slides in between the object to be protected and the surface on which it is resting.
Stand-alone 9 V (PP3) battery or externally powered (12 V DC).
Vertical surfaces
Detectors designed for protection against removal of suspended or wall-mounted objects (paintings, photographs mounted under glass, tapestries, weapons, etc...) by variation in weight on its sensors.
Triggered by touch, motion or removal.
Prevents or warns against unauthorised touch/contact.
New generation features more discreet profile.
The detector system comprises a control box permitting the supervision of 1 to 4 sensors.
Allows the surveillance of wall-mounted artworks directly by their mounting. Used for protection of artwork.

suspended by hanging wire. Automatic configuration.
Protects up to 40 kg per sensor.
Alarm memory.
Easy to change the protected artwork (automatic reconfiguration within 45 seconds).
Reliability thanks in part to the absence of any mechanical moving parts.
Several models available including miniaturised and stand-alone versions.

- INFRA-RED DETECTION SYSTEMS :

we are particularly proud of the performance of our discreet active infra red mini-barriers. They are resistant to classical triggers such as dust, atmospheric variation, becoming misaligned, variations in the weather, for ranges up to 40 m with the barrier type and 5 m for the proximity models.
Miniature modular infra red barriers for detecting intrusions, general access and people’s presence.
The ideal choice for inside or outside use to protect access to works of art.
A cost-effective solution specially adapted to protect our cultural heritage.
Low maintenance.
Independent sensitivity adjustment and relay output.
Internal range up to 30 metres detecting anyone walking through the cocoon or intruding.
Proximity presence sensing device also available (up to 5 metres, depending on the model). The intruder acts as the detector, and the device can be used to detect attempts at theft or to count people walking through in any direction.
Resistant to dust and misalignment.
Extremely reliable, even for outdoor use in poor weather conditions such as fog, snow, frost, ice and rain, etc... while maintaining the advantages of miniaturisation.
Available as a double monobeam or multi-beam which can be linked to produce a cascade.
Several voltage variants available with or without timers.

- PIEZO SEISMIC DETECTION :

detection of micro-shocks, the exhibit being moved, inclination, contact and other forms of vandalism on works of art as varied as paintings, statues, furniture and exhibition vehicles.
Protection from theft and vandalism, prevents physical attacks on works of art (paintings, furnitures, etc...).
It detects attempts to slash canvas, shocks or knocks, movement and other physical contact.
Economical alternative to electromagnetic proximity detectors if preventive detection against physical contact with the work is not required.

- RADIO FREQUENCY SYSTEM :

Solid-state technology with automatic calibration, DETECTOR can be placed inside a display case or attached to the reverse side of a painting irrespective of the inclination of the artwork.
Size: 79 mm x 39 mm x 9 mm, 25 grams.
Wireless, the DETECTOR has a 3 V lithium battery.
Various models available on request including proximity detector, RF transmission, etc...

To respond to anything from the most restricted needs to the most secure systems, we are proud to present each of our systems. They can be used separately, combined to increase the level of security and can be supplied in mains-powered or stand-alone versions.

Our range of products is continually evolving. As we design everything ourselves, we can adapt the equipment to your specific needs.

In addition to our products outlined above, we can incorporate any number of other commercially available devices : ribbon switches, edges and safety mats sensitive to pressure and flexion, fibre optic beams, video-sensors, speech processors, etc...
